Adrian Peterson is currently on his way to Arizona. The New Orleans Saints agreed to trade the 32-year old running back to the Cardinals today in exchange for a conditional 2018 sixth round pick.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals have released veteran running back Chris Johnson to make room for AP. Arizona has rotated between a trio of running backs, including Chris Johnson, since their star running back David Johnson was placed on the IR.
Peterson never got into a groove with New Orleans during the first five weeks of the season, managing just 27 carries for a grand total of 81 yards, while the team relied on Mark Ingram and rookie running back Alvin Kamara.
Despite Peterson's lack of production with the Saints, the sports world has been buzzing as a result of today's news. The seven-time Pro Bowler is expected to make his debuts with the Cardinals (2-3) in Arizona this Sunday as they play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
