Jean Deaux originally hit the radar after her appearances on Mick Jenkin's stellar The Waters. While the Chicago artist has kept a low profile of late, she's made a welcome return to the game with "Due To Me." Written with muse Smino squarely in mind, Jean Deaux delivers a grown woman's love song, at once intimate, subtle, and sexy. The Lanre produced cut was originally released as a Valentine's Day offering to Cupid and other deities, but we were caught lacking and came to our senses on the late side. We'll be alright though.
Jean's full arsenal is on display. Her poetic license, her dominant voice, and her free-form manner of arrangement. If you're a fan be sure to support this young talent; here's hoping for a more consistent output in the new year.
Quotable Lyrics
I wanna drift off a drunk lullaby
Provide me a sip of your sweet night life
Can u slide in a bit, catch a ride or a lyft
Got a light politic for your bright side eye
