Michigan producer Dabrye, also known as Dabrye For Ghostly International, has been dropping hip-hop music for a minute now. After dropping two projects at the onset of the millennium, he eventually went on to dabble in other genres. Now, however, Dabrye is back with a new album, Three/Three, due out on February 16th. The project looks to be a raw, lyrical affair, with guest appearances from DOOM, Ghostface Killah, Danny Brown, Roc Marciano, and more.
Now, "Lil Mufukuz" has surfaced, which finds DOOM doing what he does best over an eerie beat from Dabrye. Kicking things off with an unsettling vocal sample, DOOM pulls you deeper into the nightmare with his imaginative and abstract bars. If you're reading this, you already know what DOOM's all about, and he's in fine form here. Dabrye, real name Tadd Mullinix, spoke with The Fader about working with DOOM:
"On top of the legend blessing the beat, I was so pleased when he brought his brilliant narrative in direct response to the sample. As a producer, it can be intimidating working with a beatmaker of DOOM's caliber."
Quotable Lyrics
Cut off allowances and take away they toys
You think that's harsh, it's even worser for the boys
Whoop that ass in front of your friends
And drag em by the hair like don't do that again!
Now get to them chores or else you can't hit the blunt for a month
