Jim Carrey can finally breathe easy after the wrongful death case he was slammed with by his late girlfriend's estranged husband and her mother has been dismissed
“I can confirm that the case was dismissed,” Jim's attorney Ray Boucher told Page Six.
When Cathriona White died of an overdose in 2015, Jim was sued by Mark Burton and Brigid Sweetman for allegedly obtaining prescription drugs for Cathriona. Mark and Brigid said Jim provided her with drugs knowing she was prone to anxiety and depression with her having attempted suicide in the past. They also claimed Jim gave her "three STDs without warning her."
“I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved,” Jim said in a statement after the lawsuit was first filed.
“We can confirm the case was voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiffs," Michael J. Avenatti, the attorney representing Cathriona's family said in an email to the publication. “We have no further comment concerning the reasons for or circumstances of the dismissal.”
When Jim's girlfriend passed away he shared a message that read: "[I am] deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled."
