Love and or lust is the driving force behind this radio-friendly aural tryst between Brooklyn's own Thutmose and Alex Mali. Thutmose has been a beneficiary of the SoundCloud movement, having gained traction via the platform like so many of his peers through a particularly infectious single breakout single (2016's "American Beauty). The back-and-forth lyrical flirtation makes for some thematically appropriate pre-Valentine's day listening, with a comfortably PG rated aesthetic reminiscent of a high-school crush.
Thutmose proves a man of many talents, sliding effortlessly from melody to bars as he waxes poetic about his own strengths and shortcomings. The Nigerian born emcee seems destined for radio play, and "Karma" seems a worthy mainstream attempt. In the track's SoundCloud caption, Thutmose teases some future developments; he's been busy working on music in Miami, LA, Atlanta, which currently stand as three of hip-hop's dominant hotbeds.
Quotable Lyrics
Flights out west life is beautiful
You shot me down but I was bulletproof
I'm so sorry if I offended you
But I've been sick of not depressing you
