Netflix has tapped Adam Sandler for another original film that is set to debut on their streaming service April 27. The film is titled The Week Of, which will see the 50 First Dates comedian costar alongside Chris Rock. The film marks the directorial debut of Robert Smigel, who is best known for penning the Sandler-led film You Don't Mess with the Zohan, as well voicing Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
The film is cowritten by Sandler and Smigel, and will tell the tale of two fathers who don't particularly get along, but must come together to celebrate their childrens marriage to one another. Sandler and Rock will play the dads, while Steve Buscemi is also slated to appear in the film, continuing his streak of appearing in Sandler productions.
The Week Of is the third film to be released by Netflix and starring Sandler, with the company offering the actor another two more projects that will exclusively debut on their streaming service. Their first cinematic outing was The Ridiculous 6, which received a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but was deemed a success nonetheless. Sandy Wexler followed soon after in 2017, which fared a bit better critically.
