Yesterday, Justin Timberlake announced his upcoming album Man Of The Woods, which is scheduled to drop on February 2nd. Timberlake made the announcement with an album trailer, and the folkloric, grassroots imagery led many to believe that JT would be "going country," so to speak. Many fans still remember Justin's excellent run with Timbaland and Danja, which included seemingly countless hits, from "Sexy Back," "My Love," "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows," "Give It To Me," and many more. In fact, Timbaland and Danja's musical guidance arguably helped shape Justin into the influential and prolific artist he his today.
And while some feared a more home-grown direction might lead to a decreased presence from Timbo and Danja, it appears those fears can be assuaged - at least to an extent. It has been confirmed that the album's first single will be called "Filthy," with a video described as being "dance-heavy, colorful and futuristic." And the best part? The single will be produced by Timbaland and Danja, who also co-wrote the track with Timberlake, James Fauntleroy and Larrance Dopson. "Filthy" is set to drop this Friday, January 5th, while pre-sales for Man Of The Woods are set to kick off.
Afterward, three more videos will be released, presumably once a week, until the release of Man Of The Woods. What do ya'll think of this news? Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Danja once made for a pretty unstoppable trifecta, pretty much shaping the sound of pop music between 2006 and 2008; the "I Think She Knows (Interlude) off Futuresex/Lovesounds is one of the strongest pieces of pop in recent music. It will be cool to see what they're able to conjure up together.
