Lil Wayne murders a Kendrick Lamar highlight on "Fly Away."

Right when people were beginning to write off Lil Wayne, the legendary rapper came through with the rope-a-dope. Yesterday, Dedication 6 officially dropped, and it didn't take long for Lil Wayne to make his presence felt. And while some were expecting Weezy to come through heavy on the autotune, it became clear from the jump that he wasn't playing any games. To emphasize that point, he picked one of the year's hardest beats to introduce proceedings - Kendrick Lamar & Mike WiLL Made-It's "DNA." Anybody who has heard the original knows that Kendrick raised a lofty bar, especially during the climatic verse. Thankfully, Lil Wayne brings his A-game to the table.

The beat switch finds Wayne nearly frothing at the mouth in the best possible way. He sounds hungrier than he has in years, pushing his voice to new heights as he reaches flow apex: "I continue going, I get to the boar and I rip off his horns, six in the morning then I just yawn and forget to mourn and give to the star, it's 6, the reward." If you were too busy getting turnt with the loved ones yesterday, check out this D6 highlight now.

Quotable Lyrics

Sipping slo-mo at my pace, lean like I wear a brace
Queens wanna be embraced, kings wanna be an ace
I remember Ace of Spades, I remember that Goose is Grey
Now it's Bumbu by the case, n***a, fuck you, fly away
