After returning from his musical hiatus last month with the song “2006,” Harlem rapper Skinny Mars decides to come through today and share his newest offering called “American Dream.”
Over the anthemic horns & boisterous production from Michael Keenan, Sizzy reflects on his come-up and his experience growing up in an rich world where he didn’t exactly fit in. “‘American Dream’ is a song I always wanted to make but never did for some reason,” he says. “One day I went to the studio and decided I was going to tell some of my story and talk my shit for once. Ended up being one of my favorite songs ever.”
It's unclear at the moment on where this will end up up, but with an upcoming tour on the way & a strong resurgence in the process, all signs seem to point that a project is coming.
Available on iTunes, take a listen to the anthemic record and let us know what you think!
Quotable Lyrics:
How to make it in America
Real nigga, day one, ain't a lot of us
Mom worked two jobs, it was hard for us
Me and sis made it out, now she proud of us
They ain't teach me how to rap in those private schools
Wasn't like my rich friends, had a lot to lose
Less money, less options, lot of rules
So when that first deal came it was opportune
