Sunday night (October 8th), the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Houston Texans in the week 5 match both teams had on their schedule. By the game’s end, the Texans succumbed to the Chiefs, who went on to strengthen their record to 5-0 after a win of 42-34.
This match, while entertaining, was host to few game-changing injuries, most notably, J.J. Watt who was led off the field by fellow team members after collapsing on the field. It was later determined to be a tibial plateau fracture, affecting his knee’s stability and likely to inhibit him for the remainder of the season. Within their first five possessions, Kansas City was able to pull off a touchdown or field goal that would push them up closer to a dominating score of 23-7 by halftime.
Similarly, Kansas City suffered a few injuries as well with tight end Travis Kelce having to leave the field with a concussion and Chris Conley suffering a major Achilles injury during the game. Despite this, quarterback Alex Smith completed 29 of his 37 passes, throwing for three touchdowns in 324 yards, granting Smith his second 300-yard passing game of the season, a career high for him.
Next week, they’ll return to their home field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Texans will host the Cleveland Browns. Until then, catch up on Twitter’s best reactions to the Sunday night’s game.
