Dave East and Tory Lanez team up for an atmospheric hit.

Last night, Dave East dropped off his new Paranoia 2 mixtape, and while it came with minimal promotion, it's certainly sounding dope on a first listen. And while there are plenty of highlights to be found, there's something about the serene banger "Woke Up" that stands out. With a minimalist, atmospheric beat, Dave East and Tory Lanez' collaboration sounds almost meditative. Still, the calming nature doesn't keep East from going in, and his ability to deliver restrained yet intense bars remain one of his notable strengths.

"My pistol is black, these hundreds is blue, I'm at the bank almost every day," raps Dave. "See this shit on me, you know that it's true." Throw in an airy falsetto chorus from Toronto's own Tory Lanez, and "Woke Up" is the perfect choice for an early morning drive. If you're feeling this, check out Dave East's new tape in full, but note - "Woke Up" is one of a kind.

Quotable Lyrics

My pistol is black, these hundreds is blue
I'm at the bank almost every day
See this shit on me, you know that it's true
I never gave a fuck, me and this paper stuck
This shit be feeling like glue
