Netflix recently released the number of series and movies that have left the platform this month along with the handful of newcomers to get excited for. As a way to keep the hype going for future releases, the streaming service has dropped off a trailer for an upcoming science fiction series that's based off Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel Altered Carbon.
The trailer starts off with an advertisement for the "human sleeve," a way for "mankind to transfer consciousness into a new body." The advertisement pertains to those seemingly rich and famous who want to avoid death by simply jumping from body to body. "Live forever in the body you deserve," the ad ends.
The trailer then cuts to the main character for the series, Takeshi Kovacs (played by Suicide Squad’s Joel Kinnaman) who is brought back to life centuries after his brain was put on ice. Takeshi is put on a mission by billionaire Laurens Bancroft, to find out who killed his previous body. When Takeshi embarks on the task, he finds out many things about himself and the body he use to inhabit. The novel has two sequels, Broken Angels and Woken Furies, which leads us to believe that if the show takes off, the story has a lot more in store for fans.
