Fans have been patiently waiting for the release of The Cool Kids’ new comeback album for the past year now ever since Chuck Inglish first announced the iconic duo’s reunion on Twitter last Summer. “The Hiatus is over. We missed being us. We refuse to let people down and not be the actual group.” Chuck tweeted. “We been through too much. So prepare for things to go back to they were supposed to be. The Cool Kids together is what is right in the world. It's on."
"I can't say I've felt more complete as an artist than to be back with my brother to give the world what we started," Chuck added. "We really felt like we hadn't really finished what we started. They took our styles and ran off. We coming back for it all.”
Thankfully that wait is finally over. After announcing their new album Shark Week Special Edition Grandmaster Deluxe last month, the Chicago duo decide to come through today and release the album on iTunes & streaming platforms as expected.
Laced with 16 tracks in total, the follow up to 2011’s When Fish Ride Bicycles features guest appearances from the Internet’s Syd, Hannibal Buress, Travis Barker, Jeremih, A-Trak, Buddy, Smoke DZA, and more. Meanwhile Chuck Inglish handles the project’s entire production.
“I want a whole new world to open up.” Chuck said when asked what he hopes fans get from the album. “I want it to be like when I heard [N.E.R.D.'s 2001 album] In Search Of... when I was in college -- people completely switched their way of thinking. The album will bring more people out until we're in control. You're better off with us in control, trust me. If we're the ones making the decisions for cultural shit that matters, nobody cares more than us.”
Led by the previously heard singles “9:15PM” with Jeremih & "TV Dinner,” fans can now stream the “comeback” album in its entirety via Apple Music. Suggest you roll up and enjoy the new vibes from the iconic Chicago duo now.
To coincide with the album, the Chicago duo also just launched a new sketch comedy series called "The Shit Show," which you can check out right here if you missed episode one. While you’re at it, peep our recent interview with the duo (below) as they teach us how to roll a blunt-hybrid (yeah, shit’s pretty insane).
