A meditative track from a promising voice.

Forest has shared "Black Buddah," a meditative new track that's all about counting blessings, and dreams up a scenario of sipping tea with an Erykah Badu-type. His wavy, melodic hook bears the influence of Kendrick Lamar, but he's a little more playful on the verses ("Why the ass fat? / Make me asthmatic"). Overall, he sounds content with his achievements, finding euphoria in the simple pleasures and relieving stress with a simple "Woosah." At the same time, he's looking at what's next ("Now we on the come-up / Plottin' on the summer"). It's a strong first impression from a rapper who has the potential for big things in his immediate future.

No word on whether he's gearing up for a new release, but "Black Buddha," being first SoundCloud release in a year, sounds like the start of something new. Look out for more material in the near future.

Quotable Lyrics:
Money green, forest green
Favorite color
Fore I go
Let me take your number
Never let the haters take me under
I can show you how to get it
Split if with your n***as
Now we on the come-up
Plottin' on the summer
