It looks like Suge Knight’s girlfriend, Toilin Kelly, has been indicted for allegedly trying to sell the fatal hit-and-run video connected with Knight’s case to TMZ.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, the video of the incident was forbidden from public release due to a court order and Kelly along with another man, business partner Mark Blankenship, knew that prior to the sale attempt. Toilin Kelly and Blankenship were each indicted July 28th on one count of conspiracy to violate a court order, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and conspiracy to commit grand theft.
The video shows the deadly 2015 hit-and-run that killed Terry Carter and injured Cle “Bone” Sloan near a Compton burger stand during the production of the movie Straight Outta Compton. Knight is currently facing both murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the incident.
According to the indictment, Kelly and Blankenship reportedly began working on the sale of the video about two weeks after the incident took place in January of 2015 and spent nearly a month or so calling and texting TMZ, attorneys, and other people trying to arrange the sale of the surveillance footage. The indictment also states the parties eventually negotiated the price of $55,000 to sell the tape to TMZ.
"I can’t wait to get this video to you," Kelly said in a text message to a TMZ representative, according to court documents.
Kelly pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday (Sept. 13) to counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice, conspiracy to violate a court order, and conspiracy to commit grand theft. Blankenship is facing the same charges but has not yet been arraigned.
If convicted on the three felony counts, Kelly and Blankenship could face up to three years in prison, but time will only tell. Kelly is scheduled to return to court on September 19 for a bail review hearing, so we may find out more come then. TMZ is reportedly not accused of any wrongdoing for purchasing the video.
