Drake may be one of (if not the) biggest rappers in the world, but that doesn't mean that he's not a scholar of the game. Earlier this morning, Drake decided to pay homage to one of hip-hop's unsung heroes, MF DOOM. DOOM, like any good super-villain, has been known to dabble with various identities; the enigmatic Long-Islander has been a crucial component in several duos, like Madvillain, Danger Doom, Doomstarks, JJ Doom, WESTSIDEDOOM, and last but not least NehruvianDoom. In the aforementioned post, Drake shared the iconic Madvillainy album cover, along with one of the best lines from track two, "Accordion": "Just keep ya eye out like aye aye captain."
It's unclear why Drake decided to spontaneously rep MF DOOM's classic album on a whim; perhaps he was simply vibing to it and felt like showcasing his appreciation. Yet some people have begun to spin the inevitable wheels of speculation. Could Drake and DOOM be planning a collaboration? It wouldn't be the craziest development, seeing as DOOM's no stranger to collaboration, and we all know Drake is secretly a backpacker at heart. After all, you don't go to King Of The Dot tournament without having a little bit of backpacker blood. Still, it's kind of hard to imagine what a collaboration would sound like; no doubt Drake would have to revert back to his roots and bring out some serious lyricism.
This isn't the first time Drizzy has repped DOOM. Back in 2013, Drake tweeted out another DOOM lyric from "Accordion." Clearly, we can guess his favorite Madvillainy track.
