Colin Kaepernick could finally see some on-field action this year.

It's safe to say that the irony is strong with this Colin Kaepernick news update.

As per Bleacher Report, the Houston Texans are supposedly weighing the possibility of signing the much-maligned NFL quarterback, who hasn't played professionally in over a year. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer also reported that the Texans are considering Kaepernick based on his ability to acclimate himself quickly and efficiently to their fast-paced offense, which was weakened earlier this week with the news that their prized youngster, DeShaun Watson, will be out for the rest of the year due to a serious knee injury.

The irony here is that the Texans are owned by Bob McNair, who recently found himself the whipping boy of NFL fans after he compared the league's players to "inmates." In response to those words, the entire Houston team took a knee before their next game, clearly defying their owner's stance on the National Anthem protests that have overshadowed much of the on-field play this season. The hilarious mental image of McNair signing off on a Kaepernick signing was not lost of several Twitter users earlier today, pointing out that Kap becoming the Texans' starting QB would be, at the very least, a tad awkward.

McNair's comments drew the ire of a hip-hop legend as well. Jay-Z, during a stop on his 4:44 Tourcriticized the NFL owner prior to launching into a fierce rendition of "The Story of O.J." He said, "[They’re] injuring themselves on the field, giving it all they got. That’s how they look at you. That’s exactly what they think about you. We got so much further to go." He continued in this train of thought, adding that "the truth is we all believe in whatever you believe in. God, Allah. Whatever you believe in, we all come from one source which means we are all brothers and sisters at the end of the day.”

The news shows how desperate the Texans are for a competent quarterback, and clearly that there's a lack of faith in the players they already have in their system. Tom Savage, Matt McGloin and T.J. Yates are Houston's three remaining players at that position.
