The FBI bureau in San Antonio responded to the incident, which took place at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Local police have already brought at least a little bit of calm to the scene of this horrific crime, the First Baptist Church. A witness, identified only as a cashier at a gas station across the street from the church, told CNN that she heard around 20 gunshots being fired one after the other while a service was in progress at the church in question. The shooting supposedly took place at 11:30 a.m. local time. No other eyewitness accounts of the terrible incident were available at the time of this writing, but if more information becomes available, we'll update you.
The Connally Memorial Medical Center in nearby Floresville, Texas, says that they are "accepting and assessing victims" from the Sutherland Springs church shooting, as per hospital representative Megan Posey. The total number of victims who were either injured on killed as a result of the gunfire is still being assessed. Sutherland Springs, which is about 30 miles east of San Antonio, is a small community that had a measured population of just over 350 people in 2000.
This is just the latest in a string of deadly shooting incidents that have taken place in the United States as of late. After the tragic events of the worst mass shooting in American history earlier this year in Las Vegas, there have been reports of several people losing their lives after different gunmen opened fire on unsuspecting bystanders in a Walmart located in Colorado, as well as a Boosie concert that went down just yesterday (November 4th) in California.
Our thoughts are with the victims in Sutherland Springs, as well as their families.
