Fallout from Matt Lauer's firing from NBC continues to get worse.

Matt Lauer, the disgraced former TV personality who was unceremoniously fired from NBC for sexual misconduct in the workplace, continues to grapple with the ramifications of his actions. However, according to Fox News, the newsman is getting no support on the home front from his spouse either.

Lauer's wife, Annette Roque, has supposedly fled from their New York home and set up shop at her family's home in the Netherlands, just outside of Amsterdam. She was last seen in their Hamptons home last Wednesday (November 29th), the same day that the news of Lauer's unseemly actions, which included locking women in his office and exposing himself to them, were made public. There's been no official comment from Roque or any other member of Lauer's immediate family as of this writing.

The Fox News report also claims that Lauer had been a lousy husband to Roque, frequently cheating on her and even living in a separate space in New York City in recent years. Even though Lauer denied the accusations of his infidelity earlier this decade, apparently his extramarital misadventures were common knowledge, especially to his co-workers.

Further to that, in 2006, Roque filed for divorce from Lauer but, strangely, there was never any follow-through on the process. Instead, Lauer reportedly offered her $5 million as an incentive to stay in the marriage. He did this so that he could keep up appearances and appear to be America's wholesome dad figure on NBC. I guess that, among the many other decisions he's made in the past, backfired on him in a big way.
