Boogie comes through with some deep lyricism on "Violence."

Compton's Boogie has recently secured a huge win, having officially become the newest addition to Eminem's Shady Records. Now, the rapper has dropped off the Keyel & Amaire Johnson produced "Violence," which finds Masego holding it down for the chorus. The entire track is reminiscent of some To Pimp A Butterfly era Kendrick Lamar, with hazy vocal effects, a laid back, soulful instrumental, and thought provoking bars in abundance. "You get the portrait so I can see what you paint me ass, think that my current darkness was born in my shady past," raps Boogie. "Think that that minor fall only got me that major bag."

You might not be too familiar with Boogie, but if this track is any indication, that may very well change come 2018. It's clear that the rapper has a valuable poetic side, and I'm eager to see where he goes on his next drop. Suffice it to say, "Violence" is a cool new single, and a promising showcase of Shady Records' next up.

Quotable Lyrics

You get the portrait so I can see what you paint me ass
Think that my current darkness was born in my shady past
Think that that minor fall only got me that major bag
Only been saying that just to see what you been aiming at
