Staten Island hip-hop legend Raekwon returns with the second of two new singles that he's gifted fans during this first week of 2018. Along with "The Sky," these two short singles will undoubtedly bring the listener back to a very specific place in rap history and indulge their ears with some delectable old-school vibes.
On "The Biz," the instrumental begins with the well-known refrain from the classic Biz Markie track "Nobody Beats The Biz" before segueing into the famous vocal hook from that late-80's tune, which was in turn lifted from Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like An Eagle." The production, handled by Big Snipe Beats, can be jarring at times and more than once threatens to bury The Chef's vocals deep down in the mix, but the samples that are used remain catchy nonetheless. Still a solid outing for Raekwon, if admittedly a little more forgettable than other recent entries in his singles discography.
