We recently had the chance to sit down with Hopsin, who recently delivered his fifth studio album No Shame. And while fans were quick to digest the project, many believed the ninth chapter of the Ill Mind saga to be the album's highlight. As usual, Hopsin puts on a lyrical clinic, penning an ode to his estranged son, who currently resides with his baby mama across the world in Australia. The track was honest, vulnerable, and scathing, and in true Hopsin fashion, he left nothing unsaid. Today, the rapper breaks down "Ill Mind Of Hopsin 9" exclusively on HNHH.
After spitting some of the track's powerful bars, Hopsin provides a detailed explanation of his stanzas, including one from the third verse. "I'm defeated, my life has hit the floor, I'm admitting that it's not comfortable for me," explains Hop. He proceeds to break down his controversial "I wish that she did abort line," stating:
"I worked real hard in my life to build everything that I have, and to have this foundation...this kingdom...I did all this for my family. Especially my future kids, and I didn't want this to ever happen. For me to have all this and just be alone...It's just very painful. I'm just admitting to him 'this is all for you,' and you're not here to enjoy it...it makes me feel like 'what did I do it for?"
