Since his release from prison, YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been on the grind nonstop. Coming off the drop of Fed Baby's, his collaborative mixtape with Moneybagg Yo, YoungBoy continues to solidify himself as one of the next-up. Today, the Baton Rouge rapper has previewed one of his upcoming tracks on Instagram, and to be honest, it sounds like it could be one of his best songs yet. The clip finds YoungBoy and his homie beneath some all-green lights, lip-syncing along with YoungBoy's bars. The untitled track interpolates Lil Wayne's "The Block Is Hot," and features references to 2Pac Shakur and 50 Cent.
"Used to be broke but now I'm rich I'm spendin' every penny, 2Pac Shakur ridin' through when I'm up in a Bentley," raps YoungBoy, "Curtis Jackson, ain't no actin' when I'm on a mission, tryin to assassinate my character I ain't say I did it." Granted, the sample only lasts about twenty seconds, but the energy, production, and delivery all sound top tier; this may very well be the single that puts the eighteen year old YoungBoy into the mainstream spotlight.
It goes to show the influence that Lil Wayne has on all generations of hip-hop, from the veterans to the newcomers. If that doesn't put him squarely in the GOAT discussion, I don't know what does. Stay tuned for this to drop in full, as well as all things YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
