Wiz Khalifa may be one of the most admired rappers of this decade and, for his next batch of new music, he's teaming up with one of the most consistently successful producers in the game: Pharrell Williams.
With an excited caption that reads "Y'all know what the f goin' on," Wiz Khalifa is trumpeting the meeting of two minds that could mesh very well on a track together. It's worth noting that the two have collaborated before, with Pharrell showing up as a featured artist on the cut "Rise Above," which also got assists from Tuki Carter and Amber Rose. However, this will more than likely have a different sonic feel to it, with their previous combined effort bowing five years ago. There's been no hint as to what this upcoming track will sound like or even what role Pharrell will have in the production process, but the possibilities are certainly tantalizing enough to make hip-hop fans take notice.
Wiz's last single was "Something New," which boasted Ty Dolla $ign on the lyrical side and made a decent dent in the hip-hop/R&B world, even earning a spot on our Fire Emoji Spotify playlist for a time. However, that was in early August and the marijuana enthusiast has been suspiciously quiet since then. Does that mean this new project with Pharrell is next on the docket for release? Only time will tell. Instead, Wiz Khalifa has been making the headlines for a different, less flattering reason as of late. His joint-smoking gesture during a ceremonial first pitch out in Oakland for the A's last week drew the ire of both ballpark attendees and Major League Baseball.
The league issued a statement that read, "Marijuana is [a prohibited] substance in all of our drug programs. It’s unfortunate this situation occurred. The Pirates have informed us that this should not have happened." So clearly he's in baseball's doghouse at the moment, but he's got something exciting cooking in the studio for his fans. Hopefully the collaboration sees the light of day in the very near future. Also, make sure you check out our list of the Top 25 Wiz Khalifa songs here!
