We're back to share the second instalment of our two-part interview where Hopsin talks being an independent artist, older artists opinions on the new sound, his advice for those trying to "make it" and even explains how to get signed by his label Undercover Prodigy.
"I don't depend on anybody to do anything for me and that's just my outlook and I've always been this way since I was younger," the "Twisted" rapper says in the video. He explains how after hearing so many different people claim they got what it takes to make him big "you just start to realize how much bullshit is out there." Although he never wanted to edit videos or be a producer, he admits he had to learn those tools to be a stronger solo artist and it's benefited his success for his current label, Undercover Prodigy.
"Being independent is just in my nature," he says.
When it comes to securing a spot on his platform (watch the video to see what he's looking for) he assures viewers that he just wants to show new signees all that he's learned to "directly help them."
"They sign with me, they're going on tour with me, they will have better music videos [and they] will have a platform," he says. "I will promise that you will have access and a bigger reach to the public but I can't guarantee they're all going to be your fans. That's up to you."
