While some young hip-hop fans (and emerging basketball players) may dismiss the brilliance of Nas, the Queensbridge emcee has undeniably entrenched himself as a pivotal member in the canon. With albums like Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, God's Son, Hip Hop Is Dead, The Lost Tapes, and Life Is Good, it's easy to understand why he's revered by his peers as one of the greats. In fact, lyrically, there are few who can even come close to Nas' level, and it's safe to say that he's near unanimously respected by people across the culture.
The same could be said for legendary comedian Chris Rock, who has solidified himself as one of comedy's most celebrated. In fact, Chris Rock has often been associated with hip-hop, even providing a memorable monologue on Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track "Blame Game." Not only that, but Rock has appeared in numerous films, hosted the Academy Awards, and most importantly, starred in Pootie Tang. He even had a foray into the hip-hop game, sort of, with the hilarious "No Sex In The Champagne Room."
Yesterday, Nas went to see Chris Rock perform on his Total Blackout Tour, and after the set was done, legends collided backstage. Nas posted a picture of the encounter, sharing some praise for Chris Rock: ""Great to see the genius of Chris Rock tonight, he’s definitely one our Top Greats, catch him on his tour ASAP. Ran into my brov Puff backstage." To make matters even crazier, the pair were joined by none other than Diddy. who had previously collaborated with Nas on "Hate Me Now" (if you have time, look up the Wikipedia page for a crazy behind the scenes story) As you can see, that's a lot of power in one photograph. Check out the photo now, and stay patient for that new Nas album. It is, after all, done.
