Halle Bailey and DDG aimed to "protect" their baby by keeping the pregnancy a secret, according to a new report from US Weekly. Citing a source close to the couple, the outlet revealed their reasoning for not letting the public know about their son until after his birth.
"Halle told friends it was to protect their baby and relationship from scrutiny, but it was all very strange to those around them, especially when she has had such a huge year in movies," the source told Us Weekly. They added that Bailey, “plans to take some time off to bond with Halo.”

Halle Bailey & DDG Attend The BET Awards
Bailey announced the birth of Halo in a post on Instagram, last weekend. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son,” She wrote over a photo of them holding hands. “Welcome to the world my halo the world is desperate to know you." DDG later confirmed the news in a vlog on YouTube."I’m a dad. I’m a dad, y’all," he began the video. "I have a son — I have a baby boy. He’s a newborn. He was actually born last year [but] we were just waiting on the right time to basically break the news or whatever. It’s been a lot of speculation." He also joked that fans should look into "detective work," because of the rumors about the pregnancy. Fans often brought up her loose-fitting clothing choices over the last several months. She also skipped the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.
