Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice King, appears to have addressed Jonathan Majors' recent use of her mother, Coretta Scott King, to describe the support of his partner, Meagan Good. The disgraced actor referred to Good as his "Coretta." Bernice says her mother was more than just a "prop."
“My mother wasn’t a prop,” Bernice began her post on Twitter. “She was a peace advocate before she met my father and was instrumental in him speaking out against the Vietnam War. Please understand…my mama was a force.” She also linked to an article she wrote about her mother in 2017.

In Bernice's piece titled, A Woman Purposed To Be A King, she reflected on the "strength" and "success" of Coretta. "Before she was a King, my mother was a peace advocate, a courageous leader and an accomplished artist," she wrote in part while commemorating Women’s History Month.

My mother wasn’t a prop.
She was a peace advocate before she met my father and was instrumental in him speaking out against the Vietnam War.
Please understand…my mama was a force.

Majors made the original comments on Good Morning America. “She’s an angel,” he said in full. “She’s held me down like a Coretta [Scott King]. I’m so blessed to have her. The relationship is still fresh but you know, I think I found her.” Majors also referenced both Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama during an audio clip of a heated argument with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, that surfaced during his assault trial.
