It looks like Lil Wayne is following the footsteps of Drake, Diddy, Rick Ross, & others in getting into the liquor business. Although is hasn't been officially announced, the YMCMB CEO appears to have shared the news that he’s signed a deal with liquor company Bumbu Rum.
“Signing Deals and Sippin @OriginalBumbu #BumbuKrewe #D6,” Lil Wayne wrote in the caption of a photo showing him sitting at a table with a bottle of Bumbu Rum prominently displayed as he signed what looked to be a contract.
While some people might think Weezy is just jumping at any opportunity to get a check, it appears Tunechi has been a fan of Bumbu for some time now. Earlier this year, both Drake & Wayne hopped on a remix to Gucci Mane’s hit song “Both,” where Weezy referenced Bumbu in his verse. “Right now I’m high as sh*t, I’m on the Bumbu, straight” Weezy spits. In addition to that, Wayne reportedly also mentioned his connection with Bumbu in a 2016 interview with The Nine Club.
The details surrounding Lil Wayne & Bumbu’s new deal hasn’t been officially announced just yet, but the liquor brand did give Tunechi a shoutout on his 35th birthday last week, which again signifies the two’s working relationship.
For what’s it worth, Wayne also hashtagged #D6 in the IG post, hinting at the release of the long awaited Dedication 6. While little is known about when we might get to hear it, Weezy has been teasing it for months now so it looks to be next up at the very least.
Check out Weezy's semi-announcement (below) and look out for new music from the New Orleans veteran hopefully sooner than later. Just a couple weeks ago Wayne was spotted cooking up in the studio with internet sensation Trippie Redd. We'll continue to keep you posted moving forward though.
