It's the question that's been no doubt been eating away at the tenuous fibers of your sanity - when will Common and Angela Rye finally make their relationship public? Well, fear not, for that day has finally arrived. According to a post from The Shade Room, the Be rapper and the CEO of Impact slash political commentator on CNN Angela Rye have taken their relationship to the next level. The pair were originally speculated to be a couple when spotted at the Essence Festival together in New Orleans, and it was pretty much confirmed when they showed up together at the Creative Arts Emmy and posed on the red carpet.
While his hip-hop career has taken somewhat of a backseat, the rapper managed to secure an Emmy for his song "Letter To The Free," from Ava Duverney's documentary 13. It's a big win for Common, who now moves ever closer to the rare and coveted EGOT. In case you were wondering, an EGOT is an Emmy, a Grammy, An Oscar, and a Tony. With the Emmy on deck, Common's Grammy and Oscar both came from his work on the John Legend collaboration "Glory," from the Martin Luther King JR. biopic Selma. The rapper also recently turned in a badass performance in John Wick 2, which was a dope movie in all regards.
Congrats on the new couple, and to Common for edging ever closer to EGOT history.
