In a recent interview with Billboard, PnB Rock revealed that Lil Yachty has become an artist he's quick to get in the studio with when the two find themselves in the same city. "So “iRun” is just a fun turn-up song, me and Yachty. We were both in New York one time. That's my guy. We did a few songs together, so when I saw he was out in New York I hit him up on some regular shit, like, “Wassup bro, come to the studio, pull up.” He pulled up and we were just cooking," he said, adding that another one of the cuts would likely land on Yachty's next project Lil Boat 2 (not to mention a third unassigned collab with Yachty and Ski Mask The Slump God).
Listening to "iRun," it's not surprising that PnB snatched it up for his own album, as it finds a happy medium between Yachty's bright SoundCloud hooks and PnB's wailing sing-raps. Yachty's verse is particularly charming in its easily verifiable brags ("I just bought my mom a new Porsche" is accented by the ad-lib affirmation "Nah, for real I did").
Quotable Lyrics:
I just bought my mom a new Porsche
(Nah for real, I did)
Dropped out of college and hopped off the porch
I said my brother blunt so big
He need a torch (light that shit up)
I got my first Mercedez-Benz
And drove it straight off the course
'Cause I do not follow no rules
600k for my jewels
100k for my Bart
Let it hang over my heart (for real)
