For all those people who long for the days of "real hip hop," this one is for you. To be fair, anything DJ Premier touches tends to have that old-school flavor, as the legendary producer has never strayed far from his boom-bap, sample based aesthetic. And while A$AP Ferg has no trouble spitting over more contemporary production (as seen on Still Striving and Cozy Tapes Vol. 2,), the Mob's resident Trap Lord has always been, at his core, a rapper's rapper. In fact, hearing his deliver bars over some Premier production is something to behold, and I for one would welcome a little more of this Ferg.
Today, the duo slides through with an appropriately vintage video, which effectively captures the essence of early New York hip-hop. From Ferg's Adidas track suit, to the b-boy dance moves and autumnal color palette, "Our Streets" is a love letter to the style that paved their way. Check it out now.
