Last night in Colorado three lives were sadly taken after a gunman nonchalantly walked into a Walmart shopping centre and opened fire to customers in sight, Fox News reports.

The publication says the suspect, 47-year-old Scott Ostrem, walked into Walmart, located in suburban Denver, shortly after 6 PM local time on Wednesday. Scott then aimed at shoppers, calmly walked out and got into a red four-door hatchback before driving away. Authorities have released a photo of the suspect who is seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a maroon shirt.

“What we have determined is that it is random as of right now,” Thornton Police Department spokesman Victor Aliva said. “As witnesses stated, the person came in and just shot towards a group.”

“I was just picking up my last item and about to head towards the checkout,” a witness at the store told the publication. “Heard two slow pops that sounded like they were coming from the front checkout area and then started to run as about four more shots rang out a little faster. At that point everyone was just running and screaming.”

At this point in time police are still searching for Scott. There has been no indication that this tragic shooting is linked to an act of terror.

Two men died at the scene while a woman was rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The Walmart shooting comes two days after the terror attacks in New York where a man drove the opposite way down a bike path killing eight and injuring 11.
