Last night at the inaugural NBA Awards, Russell Westbrook was crowned NBA MVP, receiving 69 (nice) first place votes and a total of 888 points overall. James Harden finished second with 22 first place votes and 753 points total.
Westbrook gave a lengthy acceptance speech wherein he called his teammates on stage to thank them, praised his parents for their hard work and sacrifices and delivered a special message for his brother.
Shortly after accepting the 2017 NBA MVP Award, Westbrook also received an unexpected congratulatory message from Taylor Swift.
In the celebratory video, she says,
"So that's why I'm part of your congratulations video."
"Because we go back like 20 years. Actually, we've never met and that's sad. That's a fake story. But I wish it were the truth. You're amazing. You're the MVP. I am so happy for you."
