Keeping with a tradition that began in 2012, Nike will release a set of sneakers commemorating LGBT Pride Month at the beginning of June. This year, the sneakers in the collection are the Nike Cortez, Air Zoom Pegasus 34, Vapormax and Flyknit Racer. Each one has some element of the rainbow pattern that has been adopted by the LGBT community.
The Nike Vapormax has the most outlandish design of the quartet of sneakers, which is fitting since the shoe is seen as the future of the brand. Travis Scott recently signed on to model the sneakers. On the flip side, the Pegasus is the most plain, with only the most loosely defined rainbow. The rainbow on the Racer appears on the swoosh, and the Cortez has a long rainbow strip over the tongue.
The sneakers are set to drop on June 1, with a portion of profits going to LGBT-related causes. Nike reportedly has given $2.5 million to those causes since the program’s inception in 2012.
