The 2017 NFL season got underway last night in Foxborough, Massachusetts and it was the nine-point underdog Kansas City Chiefs that walked out of Gillette Stadium with a "W," not the defending champion New England Patriots. If you were playing against Chiefs rookie running back, Kareem Hunt, or Patriots running back, Mike Gillislee, in fantasy football, my condolences.
The rest of the league will kickoff this Sunday, or Monday night, with the exception of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins who had their game postponed until Week 11 due to Hurricane Irma.
The first Sunday night football game of the 2017 NFL season will feature NFC East division rivals Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will be eligible for the game despite the six-game suspension that was recently upheld. That game is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm on Sunday and will air on NBC.
We'll also be getting a Monday night doubleheader for the NFL's opening weekend. In the first Monday night game, Adrian Peterson will make his return to Minnesota as the Vikings welcome the New Orleans Saints to town for a 7:10pm ET kick off. Following that game, the Los Angeles Chargers will take on the Broncos in Denver. Both of those games will air on ESPN and the WatchESPN app.
