DJ Envy is coming under fire on social media for a resurfaced video in which he and his longtime business partner, Cesar Pina, offer a free chain to those who attend a financial advice seminar in Atlantic City. The social media trolling comes after Pina was arrested for wire fraud amid accusations that he de-frauded would-be investors with an alleged real estate Ponzi scheme.
“DJ Envy and his co-defendants were giving their victims chains,” a tweet sharing the video reads. In the clip, Envy explains that he and Pina are "gonna be giving one lucky person one of these chains," at the event. He continues: "Now, these chains are serious. Whoever we give these chains to, in our camp, or our friends, they own properties and they invest. So, we're gonna be giving one lucky person one of these chains."

Pina was arrested by federal agents over the weekend. According to court documents obtained by ABC 7, "Pina and his business partner, a well-known disc jockey and radio personality, operated a company that conducted real estate seminars around the country. Together, they used [DJ Envy's] celebrity to promote various real estate enterprises that Pina controlled." Lawyer Alexander Schachtel added: "He also very aggressively and vocally promoted Mr. Pina as his business partner on social media." Pina has pleaded not guilty and is out on a $1 million bond.

Envy has denied his involvement in the alleged Ponzi scheme. His attorney, Massimo F. D’Angelo, told Billboard in an interview, last week: “Envy had no involvement whatsoever. The only reason he’s being dragged into this is because he’s a public figure.” Be on the lookout for further updates on the case against Cesar Pina on HotNewHipHop.
