Young Thug and Meek Mill have had productive years, blessing the world with their new albums Beautiful Thugger Girls & Wins And Losses respectively. And while the duo are vastly different insofar as musical styles are concerned, Jeffery and Meek have developed a strong musical chemistry. After linking up on the Wins And Losses highlight "We Ball," Thugger and Meek clearly realized that the fans are clamoring for a follow-up. Now, it appears the powers that be have listened, as Young Thug made the announcement that a new Meek Mill collaboration would be dropping tomorrow, September 7th.
Thug made the announcement on Instagram, and other than the fact it's called "Homie," we don't know much else. The cover art finds Thugger and Meek looking downright regal, posted up against the wall and eyeing a feast. In the center, a hand-scrawled "Homie," in red paint. It's interesting to note that Thug appears to be channeling his alter ego "Young Martha," which first reared its androgynous head during the announcement of a collaborative EP with DJ Carnage. While the name change is a little strange, it's no secret that Thug has always embraced his feminine side, which has helped solidify himself as a unique and engaging persona in hip-hop.
Meek Mill is having quite the run as well, coming off the release of his critically acclaimed Wins And Losses. Many, including us at HNHH, felt that the project marked a return to form for Meek, and the ambition of his accompanying visual component did not go unappreciated. The upcoming collaboration should be a banger, and if the cover is any indication, the track may very well feature production from DJ Carnage. For now, all we can do is speculate, but now that the track is indeed set to drop tomorrow. We'll have it right here, so stay tuned.
