Lupe Fiasco has been down with east asian culture for his entire career (including his most recent DROGAS albums), but his roots are in martial arts. He recently uploaded a clip showing him practicing with a samurai sword in what is presumably his apartment. He’s even wearing a traditional Japanese keikogi outfit while he does.
The style he’s practicing is called laido, a martial art which hails from Japan and focuses on drawing one’s sword quickly to defend sudden attacks. His form looks pretty good (although we are definitely not qualified to judge), and for good reason – Lupe Fiasco has trained in martial arts since he was a kid. He got his first black belt by the age of 10, and has accumulated at least three in total across different types of martial arts.
So, to sum things up: don’t mess with Lupe Fiasco.
