Looking to promote his recently released Blaq Royalty album, which features guest appearances from Boldy James, Guilty Simpson, & BJ the Chicago Kid, Slum Village’s own Young RJ decides to come through today and share a new video in its support for the song “Motion,” which served as one of the lead singles.

“This joint was produced by Jay Dee a.k.a. J Dilla and myself with some additional help from Ice Pic.” RJ said referring to the late J Dilla, who was an original member of Slum Village before his death ten years ago. “I’d been sitting on this joint for a while and felt like now was the perfect time to release it. I selected Joyner for this song because he’s dope period, as a producer I always look at who will make the song better and felt like he does great, painting a picture in 16 bars. Statik always supported Slum Village and myself…plus I vibe with his music. Statik laid great cuts to bring it back to the one on the beat, scratching the wrong word can throw off the whole record.”

As for the video, it was shot in Detroit following a Joyner Lucas show. The director, Diego Cruz, decided to put black and white visuals together that tells an abstract story, that can be taken, different ways, by different viewers. “When you dealing with time you know you never can wait..that's the concept of Motion. The symbolism in the video, will mean different things to different people and that's what makes it dope,” Young RJ said about the video.

In addition to Young RJ, Joyner Lucas, and Earlly Mac starring in the video, fans can look for a cameo appearance from Supakaine, an indie artist emerging from Detroit as well.
