Young Dolph Is Straight To The Point On "Eddie Cane"

A week after he was released from hospital after being shot in L.A., Young Dolph has delivered his Thinking Out Loud project. The rapper's third project of 2017 is another concise package of Memphis street rap, informer by his recent brushes with death. "Eddie Cane" is the shortest song on the album, but it leaves a sting. Featuring an impossibly heavy beat from Buddha Bless, which nods to pummeling 80s rap production in its drum programming, while also merging it with the thump of trap and the ethereal quality of cloud rap in its synth work. At the center of it all is an aggressive, simple, and engaging performance from Dolph. His rhymes are delivered with a matter of fact delivery, but with a wit similar to his protege Gucci Mane. "Chasing a hundred M's but I'm starting to get impatient," he raps. "Benjamin Franklin my favorite / I stay fly in the latest, yeah yeah / These millions getting contagious / Half a million dollar coupe look just like a spaceship." When she with me all we do is go shopping and take tripsIt doesn't need to be any longer than it is to get the point across. 

The project follows Bulletproof, yet another album inspired by real life violence. The tape was released after Dolph was fired at 100 times in Charlottesville while in his $300,000 bulletproof SUV. 

Thinking Out Loud features production from Mike WiLL MAde-It, Honorable C.N.O.T.E, Drumma Boy, Zaytoven, and more. Guest appearances come from Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and Ty Dolla $ign (who all appear on "Go Get Sum Mo"), as well as D.R.A.M., who appears on "All Of Mine."
