DJ Khaled lands some worldwide love, and the U.S. holds it down for hip-hop.

Prior to the release of his Asahd-produced Grateful album, DJ Khaled was a man on a mission. The lovable mogul made it clear that he was gunning for some commercial records, including securing his spot on both the hip-hop and rnb charts with "I'm The One" and "Wild Thoughts" respectively. And while the star-studded collaboration album was met with mixed reviews, the fact remains that Khaled's new project was proving itself the commercial juggernaut Khaled intended it to be. But let's be honest - radio charts are not necessarily the most effective means of measuring what people are listening to.

The current majority of music listeners have turned to streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal to secure their music fix. And while the data indicating which songs are most popular is not consistently public on said services, Spotify recently released a list of their top-ten most streamed summer songs both globally and in the United States. As expected, the ubiquitous "Despacito Remix" sat comfortably on the top of both lists, but the world at large certainly seemed to love what Khaled was putting out. Both "Wild Thoughts" and "I'm The One" hit the number two and number four spots on the global list. French Montana and Swae Lee's "Unforgettable" was number three, and Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean & Katy Perry held it down at number 7 with "Feels."

While the world may enjoy their music to have a bit of crossover appeal, the top ten most streamed U.S. songs reveals a more refined hip-hop taste. In fact, all ten songs are hip-hop (or hip-hop adjacent), save for the unstoppable force that is "Despacito." Lil Uzi Vert's "XO Tour Life" claimed number two, Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" was fifth, Post Malone & Quavo's "Congratulations" was seventh, and 21 Savage's "Bank Account" sat comfortably at eight.
