Gucci Mane and ScHoolboy Q trade bars on the sinister "Lil Story."

Gucci's first 2017 album Droptopwop was an experiment in haunting underworld trap, orchestrated by the capable hand of Metro Boomin. On his second effort of the year, Mr. Davis, Gucci finds himself stepping into the spotlight, trading in the ominous instrumental vibes for a non-stop barrage of bangers. One such banger is the ScHoolboy Q assisted "Lil Story," which finds Gucci Mane rapping like only he can, spitting calculated bars with col precisions. Don't get it twisted - Gucci could always rap, but on this track, he's absolutely commanding. And true fans know that ScHoolboy Q is TDE's secret weapon, and his verse on "Lil Story" gives him ample room to deliver some gangsta bars.

While Gucci sets things off with a solid verse, ScHoolboy Q shines as the murderous counterpart to Gucci's kingpin. A true west-coaster through and through, Q continues to prove why he's one of the most underrated rappers in the game, delivering unapologetic lines with an ice-cold sneer: "hit that lick, got double stripes, Judge had tried to give me life, came home, I got extra bright, platinum records, now we on."

To be honest, it was hard to pick a standout cut, as there are many potential candidates. However, "Lil Story," stood out as one of the album's hardest cuts, and it wouldn't be surprising to see this one killing it on the radio in the near future. Admittedly, it's still too early to judge, but it's feeling more and more like 2017 is the year of Gucci Mane, and both Droptopwop and Mr. Davis are looking like they'll be making plenty of year-end lists.

Do yourself a favor and bump this track. Have ya'll heard Gucci flow like this before? Sound off below with your favorite Mr. Davis cuts.

Quotable Lyrics

Yeah, I got the fire on me, I keep the chopper close by
That's just my philosophy
Misery loves company and I don't need the misery
House full of baby bottles like I run a nursery
Droptop, red 'vert, I'm slidin' down universities
A lot of n**as feelings hurt 'cause they can't get a verse from me
No, no, hell no, boy you sound like a joke to me
