We've been waiting on this.

It was about two years ago that we sat down with hip-hop collective OverDoz and discussed the creation of their then-forthcoming debut album 2008. At the time, we were informed that the project, whose name was inspired by the year in which they all connected and decided to form a group, was practically done.

While the wait was a bit longer than we expected it to be, 2008 has finally arrived. As initially promised, the 16-track offering comes outfitted with production from the likes of Hit-Boy, Pharrell, and Terrace Martin in addition to Wansel, THC, Pop, and 1500 or Nothin’ while boasting only two guest spots from A$AP Ferg and crooner Miguel. Tracks on the project include previously-released cuts like “Rich White Friends,” “F*ck Yo DJ,” and “Last Kiss.”

The last time we actually got a full length project from the crew, consisting of members and buddies Kent, Cream, P, and Joon, was their Merry DESTmas EP dropped under the moniker The Cheetah Boys at the end of last year. You may also recall their breakout mixtape of 2013, Boom! which came equipped with appearances from names that include Juicy J, Nipsey Hussle, and DJ Drama. The same year marked their signing on with RCA Record imprint Polo Grounds, and the buzz has been bubbling ever since.

Five years laters, the group’s debut seems to be worth the wait, and from what we’re hearing, let’s hope that we don’t have to wait as long for the newest delivery’s follow-up.

“It’s just music to describe that time and describe us,” the West Coast-bred set told us of 2008. "You get to know who we are.”
