Nike and Kyrie Irving have just launched a brand new "Badge Of Honor" Kyrie 3 which features a clean black, white and gum construction as well as special detailing that reveals the inspiration behind the shoes.
According to Nike, prior to Kyrie's first AAU championship game he knocked his head on the bottom of a hotel pool which required stitches and almost kept him out of the game. Kyrie ended u playing, but he needed to wear a head bandage on the court.
The insoles of the shoes, designed to resemble a pool liner, are stamped with "No Diving" while the linen color of the swoosh is a nod to the bandaging he wore during the championship game.
Via Nike,
"The timing couldn't have been worse. The night before his first AAU championship game, a young Kyrie Irving knocked his head on the floor of a hotel pool. His game status for the next day was in doubt. A few stitches later, Irving took the court with a head bandage. Kyrie led his team to victory despite the injury. With a unique bandage graphic, the kids-only KYRIE 3 "Badge of Honor" pays tribute to the hard knocks all young athletes collect on the road to victory."
The special edition kicks are available today, May 19th, in big kid's sizes.
