The other day Gunplay's fighting at the BET Awards show with the G-Unit entourage backfired on the rapper as it alerted the authorities that the MMG rapper actually had a warrant out for his arrest. The warrant stems from an armed robbery with a firearm.
Although there were earlier reports stating Gunplay had turned himself in, in reality Gunplay only turned himself in yesterday, in Miami. He will likely be in jail for a couple of weeks. Gunplay's attorney, Mike Greico, told HipHopWired, "The likelihood of [Gunplay] being out by the weekend is slim to none," he explained, "It was either he turned himself in, or if he performed this weekend they would have just pulled him off the stage," said Greico. “He was in handcuffs at one point up in Atlanta and they released him without knowing that they had a warrant. But they know now."
By turning himself in, the MMG rapper avoided unnecessary drama with the police, "It gave us an opportunity to surrender him voluntarily down here in lieu of him sitting up in a jail in Atlanta for 30 days," Greico said.
Nonetheless, his lawyer is hopeful and thinks the rapper will be exonerated, "My gut tells me he's going to be exonerated on this. It's going to take some time though. But for now he'll be in the jail, he'll be in the court tomorrow, he looks forward to clearing his name. He wants to get out there and get back in the game."
