After a stint in jail, Jimmy Wopo was released in late August. During his time in jail, he said that he was working and writing new material in anticipation of his release. Once he came out, it was go time for the Pittsburgh rapper. The rapper's bid was due to the fact he missed a meeting with his probation officer while he was in New York City meeting with some prominent record labels. Unfortunately, those meeting costed him two months behind bars. With over a month since he was released, he returns with his latest mixtape, Back Against The Wall.
The mixtape's title is well fitting considering what he has gone through over the past few months. Back Against The Wall is Wopo's claim to the city. The rapper flexes his status as the boss of Pittsburgh after the amount of work. The project was written within the that he spent behind bars this past summer. He opens the project off with a phone call freestyle from Pittsburgh legend, Slumlord, who is currently incarcerated. The project's fourteen tracks deep and Jimmy Wopo definitely has some things he has to get off of his chest. Back Against The Wall only has two features on the project other than Slumlord's introductory freestyle. Kizzl makes an appearance on "Booby Trap" and Hardo pops up for a verse on "All Us." The project also includes "First Day Out" which he released shortly after his release. With the drop of this project, it's a prediction of what he's up to next. While the project solidifies Wopo's position in Pittsburgh, it also shows that he's hungry to dominate past his city and take his talents to a whole other level.
Back Against The Wall is a dope effort from Jimmy Wopo. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for more from him in the future.
