Big Freedia has teamed up with both Lil Wayne and the rising artist, Boyfriend, for the new track, "El Niño." It's the fourth single from Big Freedia’s upcoming album, Central City. The project will be hitting streaming services on June 23rd.
“El Niño is about going hard in any storms that come in your life and conquering them! It’s one of my favorite songs on this record, it features my longtime collaborator Boyfriend, and it’s also my first collab with Lil Wayne, who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. We put it down for our city, and this song is gonna have everyone blowin down!” Big Freedia said about the release.
Lil Wayne Joins Big Freedia On "El Niño"
Fans in the comments section on YouTube were stoked about the new collaboration. One wrote: "Yes!!! Hawtttt!!" with several fire emojis, before adding, "Baby … Yes bout to loop this right here and i just turned Youtube on. Now. Time to put this on REPEAT and go hard at life!!! Keep knocking them out the box!!!! Big Freedia Muawh." Another commented: "This is different for you Freedia and I love it.. I was waiting for you to collab with my favorite rapper.. I'm gon have this on replay.. You Already Know!" Others pointed out that both Freedia and Lil Wayne hail from New Orleans. "Freedia you never cease to amaze me! 2 New Orleans goats!" one remarked.
Lil Wayne and Boyfriend aren't the only artists to be making guest appearances on Central City. Freedia has also announced that Faith Evans, Ciara, Kelly Price, Kamaiyah, and more will be on the tracklist. As for the first three singles Freedia released, they include "Central City Freestyle," which they dropped in March 2023, "$100 Bill" featuring Ciara which arrived at the end of April 2023, and "Bigfoot" which dropped alongside the album's announcement on May 26, 2023.
