The Nuggets celebrated their first-ever NBA title with a parade through the streets of Denver on June 15. The Nuggets, who have called Denver home since being founded in 1967, took home the NBA title with a 4-1 series win over the Miami Heat. The title came after a dominant season in which the Nuggets won 53 games.
It's the second major championship for Denver in the last two years, following the Avalanche's Stanley Cup win in 2022. However, it is the end of a very long for the Nuggets, who have become one of the NBA's hottest teams. Serbian star Nikola Jokić was crucial to the team's success, with a historic playoff and Finals performance. The Nuggets selected Jokić 41st overall in the 2014 draft.
Denver Nuggets Parade Best Moments
Thousands of people lined the streets of Denver to catch a glimpse of the Nuggets' parade. Members of the championship team waved to fans from fire engines. However, news outlets captured footage of DeAndre Jordan and Jeff Green opening bottles for fans, as well as jumping off the fire engine to party at the barricades alongside supporters. A reporter for CBS Colorado also caught up with a fan sporting a large Denver Nuggets mohawk to celebrate the championship parade.
Before the parade began, Colorado Governor Jared Polis addressed a massive crowd outside the Denver City and Country Building. Polis declared that June 15 would be designated "Denver Nuggets NBA Champions Day". As the parade procession moved towards the thousands of fans waiting at Civic Park, Finals MVP Nikola Jokić was seen celebrating with his daughter and a beer alongside the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Jokić has recently gone viral for his seemingly unenthusiastic reaction to winning an NBA title.
Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets!
