Karl-Anthony Towns certainly doesn't lack confidence. Drafted in 2015 out of Kentucky, Towns won Rookie of the Year in 2016. Since then, he has become a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team member. At the time of writing, Towns is averaging a career double-double with an average of 23 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. However, his 2022-23 season was limited to just 29 games due to injury.
While the Timberwolves have never been a contender during Towns' time on the team, things do appear to be trending upward. 2022-23 marked the first time that the team made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since 2004. However, the appearance marked just the third postseason of Towns' career. Despite this, Towns raised some eyebrows with a bold claim. Appearing on Patrick Beverley's podcast, Towns claimed that once his career is over, people will say that he "changed the game."
Draymond Green Reacts To Towns Quote
It's a bold claim to be sure. Towns is often an outsider in conversations about the NBA's best center. Furthermore, the position is firmly dominated by the likes of Embiid and Jokić. Objectively speaking, Towns is going to have to do a lot more in the rest of his career to be seen as anything more as a solid NBA player and the best player during a down era for the Timberwolves. A major figure not buying the hype was Draymond Green. The Warriors veteran has never let comments like this pass him by. Additionally, Green has often been vocal about Towns in the past.
Taking to Twitter, Green retweeted a Bleacher Report post about highlighting Towns' quote. "aye @patbev21 when people come on yo show they change the game!!l?!? 🤯🤯🤯 I’m looking forward to it man," Green added in a quote-tweet. It's a hilarious dismissal of Towns' chest-pounding that only Green could pull off. Green and Towns have faced each other 17 times in the NBA, with Green currently holding an 11-6 record in those games. Do you think Towns is writing checks his career can't cash?
